  • Election Aftermath

    That’s awesome. It’s the first day after the October 2008 Federal election. A law that dictates election cycles was bypassed, loads of taxpayer dollars spent on campaigns and advertising, much mud flung, for a net of result of… another minority conservative government. It would seem that while some countries have a problem with their spending in military, others in social programs, our problem with spending seems to sit with elections. Hoorah.

  • Always, ALWAYS, Make Backups

    So. Here I am, tackling problem after problem with moving my test WordPress sites into a live environment. Very exciting! Suddenly, I hit a wall. My portfolio site has lost a ton of it’s metadata, with no clue as to where it went. Many post titles and linkages to gallery images simply reverted to NULL. What to do? Track down a backup? Not in this case… I never made a reliable one with the most up-to-date data. Hence the lesson of this entry. Always, ALWAYS, make backups of your data. No matter how seemingly insignificant. DO IT.     Some pointers on using trademark and copyright symbols such as ®, â„¢, and © effectively: It’s okay to use a sans serif symbol with serif text.
