  • Election Aftermath

    That’s awesome. It’s the first day after the October 2008 Federal election. A law that dictates election cycles was bypassed, loads of taxpayer dollars spent on campaigns and advertising, much mud flung, for a net of result of… another minority conservative government. It would seem that while some countries have a problem with their spending in military, others in social programs, our problem with spending seems to sit with elections. Hoorah.

  • Always, ALWAYS, Make Backups

    So. Here I am, tackling problem after problem with moving my test WordPress sites into a live environment. Very exciting! Suddenly, I hit a wall. My portfolio site has lost a ton of it’s metadata, with no clue as to where it went. Many post titles and linkages to gallery images simply reverted to NULL. What to do? Track down a backup? Not in this case… I never made a reliable one with the most up-to-date data. Hence the lesson of this entry. Always, ALWAYS, make backups of your data. No matter how seemingly insignificant. DO IT.
